Parkwoods, otherwise known as Parkwoods-Donalda is one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city of Toronto. A significant majority of its double storey, ranch style bungalows and split level homes were built in the early 1960’s. The varied architecture blends elements of Georgian Revival and Tudor as well as more contemporary styles and designs. The neighborhood also contains several semi-detached starter homes north of York Mills Road. There are also several condo townhomes and rental apartments south of York Mills Road. While most of the apartment rentals are affordable, prospective renters should note that rent increases as one edges closer to the Donalda golf course.
Access to social and basic amenities is easy. There is the Fenside Arena near most homes where one can pleasure skate. There is also an outdoor pool at the Broadlands Community Center and a year round tennis at Cassandra Park. Nature lovers will fall in love with the neighborhood, thanks to the neighborhood’s network of local parks that offer an array of facilities such as baseball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, children play areas and pools. To top it up for nature enthusiasts, Brookbanks Park cuts through the center of the neighborhood showcasing it’s pretty ravine valley and verdant valley with their tree canopies complete with intricate nature trails. Families with school going children can also have an easy time here, courtesy of the many public schools in the neighborhood such as Brookbanks Broadlands, Cassandra, Fenside and Ranchdale.
As already hinted, rent is affordable depending on the location. A huge one bedroom apartment in areas such as Cornell Market costs about $950 monthly. Other areas such as Denison Road West Toronto charge $850 for a spacious one bedroom apartment, and about $1800 for spacious 2 bedroom apartments. Simply put, it all boils down to where an apartment is located and most importantly, its size.
